Labelling — Are You Serious?

Due to the Icelandic ash cloud, I was unable to get to Hamburg for Online-Jugendschutz — geht's noch? in the end. All being well something like it will be rescheduled. Meanwhile I have created a sidecast of the talk that I would have given had I been able to get there.

In it I argue that we can draw useful lessons from:

• the failure of ICRA;
• the success of national film classification systems;
• the success of the Good Relations ontology;
• the success of the linked open data movement.

If there is to be a role for metadata (labels) in online safety then we must apply these experiences. My Web of Trust and MetaCert offer two possible models.
